History
Tanunda Town Band's first performance was on the 6th October 1857 at the Tanunda Hotel, under the direction of Wilhelm Ferdinand Draeger - and the band has been going strong ever since! In addition to performing for the delight of locals, TTB has had a long and successful history in contesting. The band has appeared at every Tanunda band contest and in 1927 became the the first South Australian band to achieve ' A Grade' status...they even became Australian Champion in 1957! The band has continued to hold 'A Grade' status and has also won numerous titles including 11 consecutive South Australian Championships.

The band is renowned for its talent, enthusiasm and versatility. Our repertoire is wide and varied and caters for all tastes and ages. Past performances include international tours of Hong Kong, Penang, New Zealand, Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and the UK - including taking part in the world famous Whit Friday Band Contest. The band has provided entertainment on two South Pacific Cruise seasons and regularly provides in-port evening entertainment shows for visiting cruise ships. We have played at events across Australia including representing the Barossa winemakers and tourism SA in New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Tanunda Town Band has showcased at the Alice Springs Casino show season and made multiple appearances at Oktoberfest, Sky City Casino in Darwin.
We have performed at a number of prestigous events around Adelaide including the Adelaide Formula 1 Grand Prix Ball, Adelaide Festival of Arts, Melodienacht, ANZAC Day Dawn Services and marches and Government House Open Day to name but a few. The band has also appeared on soundtracks including the motion picture 'Breaker Morant' and the documentary 'Soldiers of the King.'
